Born in Estiona, mezzo-soprano Helen Lepelaan studied at the Estonian Academy of Music. Afterwards she continued her studies at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Maastricht. She made her operatic debut in 2005 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in De Falla’s La Vida Breve as Carmela, with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra led by Ed Spanjaard.

Among her performances are the roles of Polina in Tsjaikovsky’s Pique Dame at the Estonian National Opera, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at Idée Fixe, Rosina in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Concertgebouw, Cherubino in Mozatr’s Le Nozze di Figaro,... She also sang as a soloist in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Pärt’s and Bach’s Johannes Passion, Mozart’s Requiem and in different cantatas of Bach, Händel and Telemann.
